My Journey To The Triathlon, Thoughts From Denise On The Fitness Journey Over 50

Ah Facebook.  What Are We Going To Do With You?

I have to tell you about the funny email I received the other day from Facebook.  The name of our amazing community has been deemed insulting.  Yes that’s right.  Because our Facebook community is named How To Get Fit Over 50, it could “possibly” insult folks because of the age in the page title.

My first thought?  Are you serious?  I am 53 and so is Coach Becky.  This community was a direct result of the lifestyle changes I made as I prepared for my first triathlon with Coach Becky  – AFTER THE AGE OF 50!  But alas, yes Facebook was serious and would not allow us to promote anything further on the page.

So like all good baby boomers, we took a step back and regrouped. Our generation is amazingly resilient.  Our new name will be a simple How To Get Fit.  Our website remains HowToStayFitOver50.com and is constantly updated with great tips, recipes, motivation, exercises and more.

How To Stay Fit Over 50

One more thing to let you in on.  Coach Becky and myself are in the final stages of our fitness product designed for – wait for it – FOLKS OVER 50!  Shhh – don’t tell Facebook.  Watch for more details to follow over the next two weeks.

Hope you have a wonderful Wedneday. Watch for the video on Friday to send you off into the weekend.

To your health,

Denise

  1. Hooray!! I’m 58 yrs old and love your page. Good luck with your tri, I’m training a 1/2 marathon. I started running at 47 yrs old and ran NY at age 53. It’s never to late. I was so happy to have found your page. No one likes to admit they are over 50, I do. It’s a badge of honor and it’s only a number. Spirit is young! LOL

  2. Denise, I too am over 50. In fact, I’m knocking on 60s door! Gasp! And I have run into a few instances of this weird thing on Facebook as well. Too bad they can’t see the upside to what we’re doing. I’m also a coach, like you. I love your site!
