Happy New Year! It is that time of year when we all try to get back on track after the holidays. For me that includes not only getting back on track with this website, but getting over those weight loss hurdles we all struggle with.

Are you having difficulty transitioning to a healthier lifestyle after the holidays? You are not alone. Think about it. From Halloween in October through New Year’s Day, we are eating things we don’t normally eat or drink.

This is a very real thing we deal with over 50. For me, I’m not over 60. AARP goes into detail on it here: AARP Weight Loss After 50

From time constraints to lack of discipline and even indulging at social events, there may be obstacles preventing your success. It can be even more difficult after months of celebrating.

Let’s explore strategies for overcoming those hurdles and knock them to the ground. Ready?

Weight Loss Hurdles

We’re told if we want results all we need do is balance how much food intake versus exercising: sounds simple enough right? But more often than not life throws some wrenches into the plan thus stopping us from reaching attainable goals.

Do you know what the largest obstacle preventing successful weight loss actually is? It’s nutrition, specifically 75% of your daily diet should come down to nutritional habits over exercise alone!

So let’s take this journey together on discovering healthy eating patterns that will help burn fat and build lean muscle – no matter where or who you are.

Weight Loss Hurdles To Overcome

  • You Are Busy. Juggling a hectic lifestyle can make it hard to stay on top of your nutrition. The morning rush often leaves little time for breakfast and lunch ends up being whatever’s quick – not necessarily the healthiest! So what solution is there? Believe it or not, allocating just an hour each week to meal planning will go a long way in getting back on track with healthy eating habits. As daunting as that might sound, keep things simple by writing out a grocery list beforehand then sticking strictly to that list after shopping; when you finally get home have snacks prepped right away, so they’re ready at hand throughout the week. Think outside-the-box items like overnight oats and smoothie bags which are both easy yet nutritious “grab ‘n’ go” breakfasts!
  • You Don’t Want To Put In The Time. Eating fast food and takeout is convenient, but if you want to get ahead in life it’s important that you invest time into your diet. If we all could jump from zero to sixty instantly like a car we would – however those of us who are human need spending some time preparing nutritious meals at home for the best results. Your health should be appreciated as one of the most valuable resources; so don’t miss out on improving its quality with careful meal planning.
  • You Are Afraid. Are you afraid to make a change? Fear can be paralyzing, trapping us in the same old routines. Even though it may seem easier and safer not to take risks, living life inside your comfort zone won’t bring joy or true health. Let’s get out of that rut together! You don’t have anything to lose by trying something new; if you don’t like it, just move on and try something else – there are so many possibilities waiting for exploration! Show everyone around how brave you really are – even those closest to you only want what is best for your wellbeing deep down. Don’t let fear keep holding back from achieving greatness-you’ve got this!

That is it. That is all we are going to talk about today. Baby steps for the win.

Simply focus on the three tips above, then when you are ready, come back for the next part. You got this!
