Surround Yourself With Positive People For Health

One thing that I make sure is to surround myself with positive people and to be a positive person myself.  In today’s world, it is so easy to get caught up with people,things and drama that really do not matter in the big scheme of things.  This was a huge lesson that I had to learn and one that I work on every day.  I like to help people but many times people do not really want help.  They want someone to vent to or tell that they’re right versus really want to make the changes they should make in their lives.

Choosing to be around positive people is exactly that – a choice.  To be successful in many things including losing weight and getting healthy, it is critical to be around like-minded people that you see each and every day.  Unfortunately, many times we are surrounded by people which have perpetual black clouds over their heads like the character in the cartoon Charlie Brown. Do you know the type of person I am talking about?  Nothing is ever good or goes right for these people.  What they don’t get is that they and their thoughts are the EXACT reasons they feel that way and simply changing their way of thinking can make a world of difference.

If you are trying very hard to  make changes in your life, take a good look at those you spend the most time with.  Make a conscious decision and choose to limit the amount of time you spend with negative people.  Unfortunately, the people that are the most negative may be those closest to you like your spouse or other family members.  In that case, you must put on your suit of armor so to speak so that when they speak negatively to you or around you, you let it go and do not respond to it or let it affect you.

The most important lesson I have learned in my life and the one that I have tried very hard to teach my daughters is that you cannot change anyone but yourself.  You can wish for someone to act in a different way or to do something but at the end of the day, YOU can’t make them do or change anything.  Only THEY can do or change what needs to be adjusted.  Understand that you can only change yourself so change how YOU react to the negative people that cross your path every day.

When you understand that we can only change ourselves, the way we move through life also changes.  Life is much simpler when you let go of that which you cannot control and focus on what you can control.  In this case, you can control control how you react to any negativity in your life.  Like water off a duck’s back, just let it go.
