It is Sunday and my body is sore so I have decided it is a rest day for me and that I will catch up on my reading and TV shows. My favorites are the shows on Bravo along with cooking and home remodeling shows on Food Network and HGTV. Sometimes it’s good just to kick it back a notch so that is my plan for today. Yes, I love realty shows! The reason I love these shows is because they’re not intense as I am not one to sit still very long. If I get up and walk away, I won’t lose the plot of the show or movie. Easy breezy tv viewing 🙂
One thing not my favorite are the commercials. Oy vey the commercials! How many times have you been told you can be this, that, here, there or my favorite – be the new you – instantly! Every problem you believe you have can be answered in a 30 second commercial – at least that is what they want you to believe so you run out and buy their products. AND even if you didn’t have a problem, you might think you do after you see certain commercials.
When it comes to weight loss and getting fit, you cannot magically undo the habits that got you in the shape you are in today. If you are healthy and fit, you know that you have been committed and consistent in doing the things you need to do to get there and stay there. If you are not the fit person you want to be, you also know why you are where you are. There are no surprises and the secret to losing weight and getting fit? Eating clean and exercising. Putting your health at the top of the to do list.
Another important thing is to believe that you are or that you will become the fit person you desire to become. The mental battle can derail the best of us but if we believe in ourselves and have faith, we will be able to stay on the path to health. If you do not have a strong mindset, you will find that it is more difficult for you to believe in yourself. Advice? First, don’t watch the commercials LOL! You have to believe that you can do and be anything you want to be so do not let allow anyone or anything make you think differently. In this one instance, you must fix your mindset first and control those mental thoughts that derail you.
Second piece of advice, baby steps. Every single day you know what you have to do to get where you are. The question becomes are you doing what you know you have to do? Some say it takes 14 days to create a habit while other say it takes 21 days. Either way you must make the mental choice and decision to move in the direction of fitness then get off your butt and make it happen – every single day. It will not be easy in the beginning. Every day will be a little easier than the day before and you will be one day closer to your goal. Trust and believe in yourself. You do have it within you.
